P. 829-839Abstract: The present investigation pertains to simulation of the aerodynamics of a two-phase nonisothermal twisted turbulent flow in the vortex chamber of an air-centrifugal classifier. The gas phase dynamics was determined with the aid of Reynolds equations whose closure was based on the Wilcox turbulence model. The motion of the solid phase of an ultradisperse powder is simulated by a combination of calculations of the motion trajectories of particular particles in a Lagrangian coordinate system. The influence of turbulent diffusion of particles and of other factors on the efficiency of the segregation of particle fractions by size is shown. The reliability of the results obtained is confirmed by test studies and by comparing numerical results with well-known experimental data.
